All of our work is unique and as a result it is difficult to give exact prices. What we can tell you is that certain structures will fit within a certain pricing range. This range will be affected by such factors as the size of the project, the challenges of the site and the complexity of design. If you are interested in an exact quote we would need to meet with you and put together a design and an installation plan.

Gate Prices

Pedestrian Gates

$3000.00 - $5000.00 (price includes two posts)

(single gate aprox size 3.5' X 5')

Driveway Gates

$15,000 -$20,000.00  (price includes two posts)

(double gates aprox size - 12' X 5')

Passageway Prices

What we call a passageway can be anything from a simple arbour (two posts with a beam or canopy on top to a covered passageway with four or more posts, a panel and a gate or a more open structure like a pergola with numerous posts but no panels or gates. As a result the price range for these structures varies greatly.

Small Passageway  - $2500.00 -$7500.00 

Prices here range from a simple structure with a beam across and two posts to a more complicated passageway with panels or a gate.

Large Passageway - $14,000.00 -$20,000.00

Here we are talking about a large shingled structure with 4 - 8 posts and a combination of panels and a gate or gates.

Carriage House Doors -$2500.00 - $3000.00                                             (single door aprox 3' X 7') 

Since most carriage house doors come in larger quantities, the price range reflects this.  The highest price is for a single door and the the price reduces according to the volume ordered.

What is Included in the Price 

Workmanship

Many hours of labour go into the making of each passageway.  The design process is catered to individual needs and the site.  Joinery is used extensively for strength and beauty.  Design features such as curves are more labour intensive but add greatly to each structure.  Structural stability must be built in especially to larger structures and the design must both look good and function well. We do not contract out any of our work and each project receives the concentrated attention of the designer/builder from start to finish.

Materials

From fasteners to finish, we use only the best quality materials.  The wood we use is clear cedar.  The source for our wood is FSC certified and we can produce a chain of custody for each project.  That is, we can show both where the wood came from and how it was processed.  FSC certification is the highest standard you can achieve in the world and our suppliers are affiliated with Ecotrust, an organization that is committed to supporting businesses that combine ethical environmental practices with a quality product. 

The finish we use is an environmmental product called Naturhaus.  We import it from Germany because we could not find any other product locally that we like as much. It protects the wood and extends its life but more important it allows the natural beauty of the clear cedar to shine through.  It is an oil based product so it is relatively easy to re-apply when the finish begins to fade.

We largely rely on joinery, especially in the construction of our doors and gates and we avoid the use of glues.  When we do use fasteners, we ensure they are of the best quality and made to withstand the elements. 

What is Not Included

Hardware

Our prices do not include hardware as this can range from $200.00 for a gate latch to $5000.00 for an automatic driveway gate system. We have done a great deal of research on hinges and hardware and can offer options that look good and function well in a wide range of prices.

Installation

Installation is site specific and every job will vary greatly.  We work with qualified installers to ensure a proper job is done.  On more complicated installations we may use the services of an Engineer.  The designer/builder of Victoria Wood Studio supervises each installation personally to ensure the standards are in keeping with the rest of the service that we offer. We ensure that your structure both looks good and functions well over time.
