Wooden gates add warmth and welcome
The beauty of clear western red cedar softens the
often imposing look of massive driveway gates. Designed and built
by Dieuwertje von Aesch of Victoria Wood Studio they look like works of
art but function smoothly.
Wooden gates are not without their challenges. Victoria Wood
Studio has addressed these challenges in its build and installation.
The gates are built using traditional joinery and are pegged with
oak dowels for added stability. They come finished with an
environmental finish from Germany called Naturhaus to protect them from
the elements.
Installation is a key part of the smooth functioning
of these gates. We use a variety of approaches depending on the
site. We have worked with challenging terrain such as rock and
sandstone. We have installed automatic opening systems and attached
pedestrian gates to driveway gates. We are happy to install
locally or out of town. Our last two installations were on the Gulf
Islands.
From the initial design visit to the hand rubbed
finish the hand of the maker is evident in your Entryway. Their
appealing designs, each one unique, will provide conversation pieces
for those entering or even walking by. Not only that they will function
